Rosatom to Lay Down Baltic NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2010. In Neman district of Kaliningrad region, Baltic NPP will be laid. It will be the first plant built in the post-Soviet period in the region where there was no nuclear power till now: new power units were erected only at plants under operation.
Baltic NPP is one of the most ambitious projects of "Rosatom". Its deployment was coordinated by the Government on February, 20. The first power unit should be built till 2016, the second — in 2018. (both of 1150 MW). Investments amount will make 5 bln. EUR. In 2010, 3.6 bln rubles, in 2011 — 8 bln rubles will be invested into construction of Baltic NPP, reported representative of "Rosatom" to "Vedomosti". "I signed resolution on appropriation of 53 bln rub. For construction of nuclear power plants", — announced Prime minister Vladimir Putin.
In total, the corporation will spend in 2010 year 101.7 bln. rub for NPPs construction, including 48.5 bln rub. of own and borrowed assets, said its representative. Moreover, "Rosatom" negotiates on engagement of foreign investors in building of Baltic NPP – maximum for 49%, reported he, but did not disclose the details.
