OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2010. "Elder Generation" Forum is one of the most expected events for the elder citizens of St. Petersburg. On March 18-21, 2010 everything, done in St. Petersburg for the people of this age category, will be demonstrated at "Lenexpo" fairgrounds. The preparations are being done at the highest level: the event's organizing committee is headed by Lyudmila Kostkina, the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg.

We have asked the director of the "Elder Generation"  project Galina Saricheva to tell us about the organizing committee's meeting, which took place on February 12, 2010.

On February 2 of the current year the government of St. Petersburg accepted the resolution # 76 regarding the conduction of "Elder Generation" forum in 2010.

This year the exhibition "Care. Health. Mercy" will celebrate its 5th anniversary. For the second time it will be conducted in a new Forum format, which also includes the exhibition "Everything for health" and international congress "Social adaptation, support and health of the elder people in the modern society"

4 days forum program will be full of events. They are mostly focused on the leisure time for the elder generation. Besides, health issue will also be paid much attention. Visitors will also be offered an interesting cultural program.

Everyone, looking for a job, will be able to use the "bank of vacancies", provided by the Committee on labor and employment and offered at the Forum. It will also offer a 'women labor exchange' with wage labor vacancies.

St. Petersburg Committee on culture will introduce district local libraries working with elder people.

 "St. Petersburg Grace 2010" festival among St. Petersburg sport clubs, offering exercises for the elder age group will also be conducted in the Forums' framework. The event is organized by St. Petersburg Committee on sport and physical education.

This year all visitors will be able to attend our "Readers house", which will organize meetings with popular writers in the pavilion 5.  The list of scheduled meetings can be found at our site.

Master classes on applied art and computer studies will be organized daily. Along with this, "Elder Generation" Forum will offer consultations on social issues, social an medical insurance and pension provision. Visitors will be able to consult with a dietitian or geriatrician.
