Belarus Invites Russia to Invest in Its Agriculture
OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2010. The Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus invites Russian businessmen to invest in the Belarusian agricultural industry, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus Leonid Marinich said during the Belarusian-Russian economic forum, Prospects of Business Cooperation Development between Belarus and Russia, on 25 February.
In his words, Belarus’ agrarian sector is attractive for investors today. Belarus sets forth ambitions tasks of technical upgrading of the whole agricultural industry. The investments necessary for its implementation in 2010 make up almost Br3.2 trillion. In 2011-2015 the Belarusian agriculture plans to attract Br37 trillion of investments.
According to Leonid Marinich, Belarusian and Russian agrarian sectors have been developing cooperation in line with the signed agreements. They include setting up joint productions and working out joint programmes. Russia is an important market for the Belarusian agricultural industry. In 2009 the export of the Belarusian agricultural products to Russia fell 8% to the last year’s level. Today the organizations of the Agriculture and Food Ministry export to 67 regions of the Russian Federation. Moscow accounts for 32% of the total Belarusian export.
