Gomel Oblast and Vysocina Region to Develop Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2010. The Gomel Oblast of Belarus and the Vysocina Region of the Czech Republic will develop partnership relations between their towns. The agreement on this was reached during a meeting of Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Boleslav Pirshtuk and Honorary Consul of Belarus to the Czech Republic Irzi Krzivan.
The town of Trebic may become the first Czech town which will establish the partnership relations. According to the Honorary Consul, “it is time to reach the same level of the cooperation that we had before.” “We are the Slavs. So, we will find a common language very fast,” Irzi Krzivan underscored.
The two regions have already established business cooperation. Thus, the Czech company TRADO is an official dealer of some big Belarusian machine-building companies including Gomselmash. In 2009 both the sides set up the trading house Bel-Czech TRADE which helps the Belarusian businessmen find commercial partners in the EU countries, participate in international fairs and exhibitions, open trade representations. According to the Honorary Consul, the Czech businessmen have a number of other commercial proposals for their Belarusian counterparts.
The sides have agreed to sign an agreement between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two regions. After this, the Mayor of Trebic will pay a visit to Gomel. A delegation of Czech businessmen and officials will attend the Gomel Economic Forum which will be held in May this year.
According to Irzi Krzivan, the education, culture, sport and tourism are promising areas for the bilateral cooperation as well.
The Vysocina Region is an administrative unit of the Czech Republic. It locates partly in the south-eastern part of the historical region of Bohemia and partly in the south-west of the historical region of Moravia. Its capital is Jihlava.
