OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2010. The PCI unit in the blast furnace shop is the most important project of capital construction at the Works. Cold test of the unit is planned for the beginning of April and testing of the unit with raw coal and coal dust is planned for May.

At present construction works are being concluded and the subcontractors have started the erection of mills and conveyors produced by the German firm "Kettner". Erection of the bins for dust coal and coal is being concluded.

The bin trestle is being lined with special material. Simultaneously electrical works and preparation for the automatic processes are being carried out. Cables are also being laid. Introduction of the PCI unit will produce considerable economic and ecological effect and it will also allow to stop the usage of expensive gas for the production of pig iron.
