Kamaz Opens New JV in India
OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2010. A new joint venture in India should allow Kamaz to expand its markets at a time of low growth rates in Russia, a key market for the company. The new venture also allows for the more active use of Kamaz chassis.
Kamaz has opened the Kamaz Vectra Motors joint venture, the company reported on February 18. The JV will engage in the assembly of automobiles on Kamaz chassis using production capacity from Indian company Vectra. The JV will have the capacity to assemble 5,000 vehicles a year. Production is scheduled to start on February 25.
We are upbeat about the truckmaker’s plans to expand into foreign markets. The new JV allows for the more active use of Kamaz chassis. Entry into the Indian market also enables the company to expand markets for its vehicles at a time of low market growth rates in Russia, thereby earning additional revenue.
