OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2010. Republic of Karakalpakstan secured sustainable growth rates of economic and social development in 2009 thanks to the measures taken on the basis of Anti-Crisis Program. Thus, gross regional product increased by 8.2% in the reporting period.

Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan has held session in Nukus to sum up results of socioeconomic development in 2009 and set priority tasks of economy's development in 2010. The meeting was conducted by the Chairman of Jokargy Kenges M. Erniyazov.

Industrial output of Karakalpakstan grew by 3% in 2009, agricultural production – by 7.2%, volume of paid services went up 13.6%. Five projects were implemented in the republic on the basis of production localization in 2009, production volumes rose by 10.6% as a result.

Karakalpak enterprises exported products worth 9 billion soums in the reporting period. The amount of attracted foreign investments grew 5 times compared to 2008, population's real incomes – by 30.7%. More than 48,000 new work places were created in line with employment program.
