OREANDA-NEWS. February 15, 2010. The volume of trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China hit record last year. Commodity turnover between the two countries increased by 19.8% in 2009 as compared to 2008.
"The achieved results are the consequence of a well thought-out anti-crisis measures taken by the governments of both of countries as well as recent stirring up the cooperation between Uzbekistan and China considerably," Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Yu Hongjun said on 9 February at a reception in Tashkent on the occasion of New Year by eastern calendar.
"Tendency of slowing down economy growth rates was stopped successfully in a short period due to active fiscal and flexible monetary-credit policy proclaimed by the PRC government," the Chinese diplomat added.
The gross domestic product of China comprised .91 trillion in 2009 and was 8.7% more on the year-on-year basis. The average population's incomes grew almost by 9%, Yu Hongjun said.
Speaking on results of the Anti-Crisis Program, the Chinese envoy noted that Uzbekistan managed not only to minimize the consequences of the crisis, but also to achieve significant results in the economic development thanks to timeliness of taken measures.
"President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov the speaking recently at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers summed up socioeconomic development of the country in 2009. I think that this bright progress shows again that the "Uzbek model" is a right way of development meeting the realities of Uzbekistan," Yu Hongjun emphasized.
The Chinese diplomat believes the next summit of the heads of the SCO member states in Tashkent with participation of the President of China Hu Jintao will become one of the largest events in the Chinese-Uzbek relations.
Among the other notable events planned in China this year the diplomat named the largest exhibition in Shanghai EXPO-2010, which will start in May, as well as 16th Asian Olympic Games which will begin in November in Guangzhou.
