OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2010. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, food prices in the first month of this year increased by 3,4%, for non-foodstuffs - by 1,2%, while the tariffs for services rendered to population, increased by 2,5%.

In particular, among the largest food price growth was registered for grapes - by 27.4%, fresh vegetables - by 19,7%, including tomatoes - by 28,4%, onion - 26, 4%, cabbage - by 20,8%. Price for potatoes has grown by 15,5%, sugar - by 6,8%, fresh fruits – by 7,9%, including price of apples and pears which have risen by 13,9%.

Dairy products went up by 3%, including sheep cheese - 3,8% and oil - by 4,7%. At the same time, the prices for diet eggs fell by 3,1%, poultry - by 0,7%, pork - by 0,3%. The largest growth for non-food prices in January was registered for fuel - 4,5%, including liquid petroleum, gas in cylinders -7,9%, petrol - 6,8%. Medicines prices increased by 2,8%, jewelry by 2,7%. Among the services provided to the population, the greatest growth in January 2010 was registered for housing communal services - by 5,3%.

In particular, electricity tariffs increased by 8,9%, gas - by 4,3% and central heating - 4%. Tourism and recreation prices increased by 5,3%, international railway passenger transport and accommodation – by 3,4%, payment for maintenance and education of children in kindergartens has increased by 3,3%, catering prices by 2,7%.

As it was reported before, inflation in Moldova in 2009 amounted to 0,4%. Food prices for 2009 decreased by 3,8%, while prices for non-food products increased by 2,5%, and prices for services rendered to the population, grew by 2,2%. In December 2009, as compared with the previous month the inflation amounted to 0.9%, while for the 11 months of 2009 a deflation of 0,5% was registered.

The food prices in December 2009 have increased by 1,7%, prices for industrial goods and tariffs for services rendered to population, grew by 0,5%. It can be reminded that in 2008, the inflation in Moldova amounted to 7,3%. In 2010 the Government expects inflation at 5%.
