Russian Car Sales Down 37% in January 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2010. In general, downward trends on the Russian car market persisted in January 2010. However, we note that Sollers managed to significantly outperform the market, thanks to its competitive price policy and specialization in all-road vehicles.
On February 8, the Association of European Businesses announced Russian retail passenger car and LCV sales figures for January 2010. Last month, Russian car sales dropped 37.2% y-o-y to 74,100 vehicles.
Against the overall decline in sales, Sollers managed to notably outpace the market: its sales dropped just 14.5% y-o-y. In our opinion, such robust sales dynamics were thanks to the company’s diversified product range, competitive price policy, and focus on all-road vehicles: sales of SsangYong all-road vehicles decreased by 8%, and sales of UAZ off-roaders even rose by 6.6%.
