OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2010.  According to NPP VNIIEM DG-General Designer Leonid Makridenko, the company begins shipment of the electrical equipment for control and protection system of power unit №3 at Kolskaya Nuclear Power Plant.

The first set has been already shipped. The remaining equipment is prepared for shipment in the third decade of February.

Modification of the control and protection system in power unit №3  is one of the most important efforts aimed at extending operational life of the unit.

Commissioning of the delivered equipment is to be carried out on March 5 – June 22, 2010. It is the first time that such deep modification is implied in the safety control systems of nuclear power plant with water-moderated water-cooled power reactor.
