Khimvolokno to Build Biogas Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2010. Svetlogorsk-based Khimvolokno plans to construct a biogas plant on its treatment facilities in 2010-2011, chief power engineering specialist of the company Alexander Barbuk said.
Biogas will be produced during a process of fermentation of activated and primary sludge generating at the treatment facilities. According to Alexander Barbuk, gas will go to the power unit to generate electric energy and heat for the company.
The investment project will cost almost USD 4 million. The payback period will make up nearly 5 years.
The company has been looking for investors. “We have informed the majority of our potential partners and are holding negotiations with some of them,” Alexander Barbuk.
Founded in 1964, Svetlogorsk-based Khimvolokno is one of the biggest companies of the Belarusian petrochemical industry. The plants of the company produce polyester textile fiber, synthetic fiber, carbon and polymeric materials, consumer goods. Khimvolokno exports its products to 38 countries.
