OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2010. Dmitry Medvedev has held the joint session of the State Council and Council for Information Society Development. The President has reminded that according to the Information Society Development Strategy all the government services should be converted to the electronic form by 2015.

President of the Russian Federation has set tasks to be solved in the near future. Among them there are establishment of uniform approaches to conversion to rendering services in the electronic form, further development of the regulatory and legal framework, overcoming the 'digital inequality' of regions, increase of computer competence of the state and municipal employees.

Regional authorities are charged with development of plans for the e-government construction, definition of priorities of conversion to rendering of services in the electronic form.

In the end of January, 2010 the first results of this work have been summed up. According to the Applied Economics Center (Moscow), the Republic of Karelia is on the 1 place in the Northwest Federal District and on the 6-7 places among all subjects of the Russian Federation on the level of the e-government introduction. Subject of investigation were the Portal of the Government Services of the Republic of Karelia officially launched on December 15, 2009, and The Republic of Karelia state Government Bodies' Official Web Portal.
