OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2010. This field is one of the world’s largest offshore gas fields and the biggest one in Azerbaijan.

Rovnag Abdulayev, the president pf the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), says that the Company has already sanctioned works and is operating on Phase 2.

“Engineering and preparatory works have been already carried out. Construction works are not stopped and are fulfilled in accordance with certain program,” Abdullayev said.

Phase 2 is expected to allow production of up to 20 bn cu m of gas a year plus to those 8-9 bn cu m that are being extracted within Phase 1.
