Volumes of NR’s Arkhangelsk Branch up 29.8, 484.400 Tons
OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2010. The volume of loaded commodities by Arkhangelsk branch of the Northern Railroad (NR, a subsidiary of Russian Railways) have increased to 484.400 in January 2010, a 29.8 percent growth compared with the same period of 2009. Freight traffic amounted to 2.322.400 tons / km, 21% over the same period last year, Arkhangelsk Railroad press office reports.
The major shipped commodities that contributed to the growth are paper, pulp, building materials, petroleum products. The volume of timber cargo traffics increased by 7.3% y-o-y and amounted to 230.700 tons this January, building materials turnover this January was at 89.500 tons, a year-over-year 53% rebound, 45.200 tons of paper and 6.400 tons scrapped iron metals meant a threefold jump over the same period of previous year.
The Northern Railroad area is the axis of Ukhta-Yaroslavl-Kirishi, Surgut-Yaroslavl-Polotsk trunk pipelines.
