Transsiberian Re Paid RUR 1.7 mln to Russian P&I Pool
OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2010. OJSC Transsiberian Reinsurance Corporation made payment to Zeller Associates managing company of Russian P&I Pool under ship owner’s general third party liability treaty. The treaty with Russian P&I Pool covered ship owner’s liability of motor vessel “Captain Matveev” (type – general cargo, year of built – 1987, displacement – 2463 BRT, flag – Russian Federation).
On 16 November, 2009 on its way from port Gulluk (Turkey) to Rostov-on-Don (Russia), m/v “Captain Matveev” with cargo crossed the oyster park, located inshore, causing considerable damage to its equipment. Following the aggrieved party claim the vessel was arrested by Turkish authorities.
The event was admitted insured. Ship owner’s liability limit made up USD 5m. Total loss of the insurance share amounted to USD 700 thousand. After speedy examination of the documents Transsiberian Re European Bureau paid USD 58 333.33 of its share on 29 January 2010.
