OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2010. Following the tendering process, the Russian petrochemical Holding SIBUR has signed a three-year contract with Yokogawa Electric CIS for equipment to automate control of its production assets.

SIBUR and Yokogawa have been cooperating more than a decade already. The previous contract was signed in 2006 for equipment used in automated process control systems (APCS), gauging units and automatic machinery (GU&AM). In 2005-2009, about 60% of new equipment for automation of the Holding facilities have been shipped under the partnership with Japanese company. This cooperation between SIBUR and Yokogawa Electric CIS enabled automation and modernization of control systems at Azot (Kemerovo), Yuzhno-Balyksky GPP, Uralorgsintez, Tobolsk-Polymer, Tolyattikauchuk, and Voronezhsintezkauchuck.

By new contract, Yokogawa Electric CIS will increase the range of equipment supplied to SIBUR at special prices, extend the manufacturer’s guarantee and significantly improve the payment terms. Major contracts prepared to implementation together with Yokogawa Electric CIS include expansion of APCS of the core gas-fractioning plant at Tobolsk-Neftekhim, as well as implementation of the Russian first operation modeling systems of pyrolysis furnace at SIBUR-Neftekhim.

Presently SIBUR is considering the conclusion of similar contracts with other leading suppliers of equipment for the automated systems of control.
