Volume of Farms Agricultural Products Declined 9,9% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2010. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, according to preliminary estimates, the decrease in total agricultural output was due to the reduced production of plant products by 17,4%, while the output of the livestock products as compared with 2008 has increased by 11,8%.
Analysis of the impact of production on physical volumes of agricultural products in 2009 showed that most of all were affected wheat production- by 42,9%, corn - by 23,6%, sugar beet - by 65.1%, sunflower – by 23,7%, vegetables - by 14,2%. In 2009, the share of plant products in total agricultural output made 68% (74% in 2008); 18,4% of which- grains and legumes, 9.5% - industrial crops, 13% - potatoes, vegetables and melons, 21,9% - fruits and grapes.
The share of products of animal origin was 32% (26% in 2008); 16,6% of which- beef and poultry, 10,7% - milk, 3.8% - eggs. It is noted that the decrease in production of plant products in the past year was due to the lower planted area and average yield reduction of the main crops. Thus, the average yield of the sugar beet per ha has decreased by 63,2%, barley - by 38,4%, wheat – by 33,3%, sunflower - by 23,3%, corn - by 17,7%, fruits - by 11,8%, vegetables - by 8,9%. At the same time, increasing number of the livestock and poultry (cows - by 2.1%, pigs - 33,9%, poultry- by 12,9%) and the increased productivity led to the increased production of main livestock products.
According to NBS, 29% of the total volume of agricultural products accounted for agricultural enterprises, 22% - peasant households, 49% - farms. As in the previous year, in 2009 agricultural enterprises produced main volumes of canola- 91%, sugar beet - 88%, tobacco - 87%, soybeans - 69%, cereals and legumes and sunflower seeds - 67%. At the same time, 89% of potatoes, 90% of corn, 85% of vegetables, 80% of grapes, 97% of milk, 75% of meat, 61% of eggs were produced in the households and peasant farms.
