Moldova PM Ordered to Impose Sanctions for Price Setting
OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2010. During the special press conference of the government, which took place, the information about pricing of the different foodstuffs has been presented.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc noted that recently the price of poultry meat has decreased by 5%, eggs – by 14% and remained the same for sunflower oil. At the same time, it was noted that the price of the dairy products grew by 3% and sugar – by 14%. The prices have also increased for the buckwheat and rice.
According to the Director of the Customs Service Tudor Balitschi, based on the customs cost of these products, there is no reason for the price increase and the customs cost of the buckwheat and sugar has actually declined. The head of the General State Tax Inspection Nikolai Platon has informed that there had been many cases of 20 per cent surplus of the trade allowance limit provided by the law. According to him, prices of some products in mediation networks have increased several times.
The Director of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption Viorel Chetraru noted that CCECC has exposed about 90 cases of unlawful and unwarranted pricing. The Premier asked those present to conduct strict monitoring of prices and impose sanctions for each deviation from the provisions of existing legislation. Vladimir Filat has informed that the working meetings with the senior officials will be held every week.
