OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2010. This was announced by the IMF Executive Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn at the meeting with the Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat during his visit to USA.

As the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers notes, the Prime Minister thanked the IMF for its support for Moldova, especially in overcoming the economic crisis. In this regard, he reminded that Moldova has already benefited from the IMF’s assistance in the amount of about US 180 million and allocation of another US 590 million is provided by Memorandum, on which the parties have agreed in October 2009.

Vladimir Filat presented the priorities of the Government and so far taken steps to implement them. The Prime Minister of Moldova addressed to IMF for the assistance in resolving issue of possible compensations to be provided to socially vulnerable categories of population after the recent price increases in the utility services. The meeting was attended by the members of the Moldovan government delegation and IMF representatives.
