OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2010. Such data is cited by the Russian Research Center of federal and regional alcohol markets, noting that in 2009 Moldova has exported to Russia about 26.95 million liters of wine, which accounted for 12.25% of the total deliveries to this country.

In 2009, the largest volumes of wine to Russia were exported by France - 39.6 million liters and Bulgaria - 33.88 million liters. Their market share accounted for 18% and 15,4%, respectively. The five largest suppliers of wine to the Russian market in 2009 also include Spain and Germany, which exported 25.08 million and 23.1 million liters, accordingly.

Their market share totaled 11.4% and 10.5%. In general, wines to Russia were imported from 35 countries. The share of CIS states accounted for less than a quarter of all products supplied; other volumes were shipped from EU. The companies-leaders on the export of wine to Russia in January-October 2009 are Luding (19%), "Moro-import" (10%) and ILS (8,4%).

As the experts note, Russia is very dependent on the wine imports. According to the Russian Research center of alcohol markets, in 2009 Russia has produced 500 million liters of wine and 190 million of champagne and sparkling wines. At the same time, the raw material for production of 215 million liters of wine was imported. In addition, 220 million liters were imported in the form of finished wine.

Thus, Russia uses 53% of imported raw materials to produce wine. The experts state that the market of imported wine in Russia is firmly consolidated. 15 main wine importers have 80% of the market and they continue to strengthen.
