OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2010. The State Statistics Committee reports that in 2009 number of legal entities in the country grew by 4.4%, and as of 1 January 2010 Azerbaijan numbered 89,939 enterprises. Simultaneously it was opened 5,314 new businesses and liquidated 1,336 ones.

For the past year quantity of enterprises on disposal of sewage   increased by 11.9% up to 488 and educational institutions by 8.6% up to 996. Despite the crisis in construction sector, number of organization son operations with real estate rose by 8.2% up to 725 and building companies by 7.2% up to 9,468.

Among the domestic legal entities are mainly private enterprises(79.2%). Then follow 11,110 state-run enterprises (12.4%), 4,265 foreign enterprises (4.7%) and 1,596 joint ventures (1.8%).
As of 1st January 2010, the country has registered 272,597 entrepreneurs operating without creation of legal entity and 850,473 family farms.
