OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2010. Volga-Dnepr Airlines operated a third flight as part of a humanitarian cargo delivery program to help victims of the strong earthquake in Haiti.

The flight from Paris-Vatry Airport in France followed operations to Port-au-Prince from Geneva and Orebro. Volga-Dnepr completed its first aid flight within 24 hours of the earthquake.

Volga-Dnepr's IL-76TD-90VD aircraft carried 30 tons of supplies, including search and rescue and emergency medical equipment. The aircraft landed in the Haitian capital city of Port-au-Prince.

As a regular provider of cargo lift to government agencies and international humanitarian organizations, Volga-Dnepr has been involved in extraordinary missions operated to disaster areas and other areas needing humanitarian aid across the globe. The company has transported aid and relief cargo worldwide, delivering all kinds of supplies including large-scale food shipments, mobile kitchens, snow ploughs, ambulances, water purification equipment, tents and medicines. In November 2009, the company's IL-76s and IL-76TD-90VDs operated 11 flights to Padang, Indonesia, bringing 391 tons of humanitarian aid to victims of the Sumatra earthquake. In May 2008, AirBridgeCargo Airlines, also part of Volga-Dnepr Group, carried 160 tons of relief supplies for people suffering from the destructive cyclone in Myanmar and earthquake in the South East China.
