OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. In 2009 the State Committee for Property Affairs of Azerbaijan privatized 40 JSCs through investment competitions against 20 JSCs in 2008.

At a session devoted to the 2009 activity Committee’s chair Kerem Hasanov said that it was organized 54 competitions in connection with privatization of JSCs last year.

“Due to them in different regions of Azerbaijan it was privatized about 40 enterprises. In 2009, the enterprises privatized through investment competitions were invested AZN 80.5 million. The ownership rights on 7 enterprises were transferred to buyers,” Hasanov said.

As a whole, as of 1st January 2010 following competitions it was privatized 80 state-run organizations which were invested 480.5 million, created about 13,000 jobs and transferred AZN 32.5 million to State Budget.

“In accordance with the Second State Privatization Programme, for the past year State Budget was transferred AZN 59 million from privatization in 2009,” Hasanov said.

Last year it was also privatized around 700 small state-run enterprises and sites about 450 land plots.
