OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. The boundaries of Taganrog seaport were specified by the Federal Government January 19, 2010 p N33 decree. The document posted on the official website divides the seaport’s territory into 8 lots, water area - 5 ones.

Port of Taganrog is located on the northern coast of the Azov Sea in the Taganrog Bay of Rostov region. The Port waters freeze during wither season, even mild winters. To ensure navigation into the harbor the port uses icebreakers. Taganrog port is connected with the sea waters a 10.1-mile canal along coastal line, of 80 m in width and 5.0 in depth. Vessels of 20-m draught are allowed for navigation via the canal, under the port’s captain decision.

The port of Taganrog is protected by breakwaters and dams. The port’s water area consists of three mutually interconnected basins: the New, Petrovsky and Remontny, with loading berths, the Priazoviye shipyard docks.
