Russia Sets Conditions for Granting Serbia USD 800 mln Loan
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. Russia sets a condition for grating Serbia a loan of USD 800 million: that Russian firms participate in the railways development projects, said Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic.
After the session of the Supervisory Commission for the construction of Corridor number 10 Mrkonjic said that he expects an agreement will be reached this month. The minister added the entire sum of USD 800 million will be invested in projects on railways development, because the development of the railways is an opportunity for Serbia’s development.
“Apart from the railway lines, we have ten plants for carriages, which do not have orders,” said Mrkonjic and added that by developing the railways the plants will have work.
Serbian Deputy Finance Minister Zoran Cirovic said Russian firms will participate in the projects funded through the Russian loan, but they will not be the only implementers.
