Moldovan PM Addressed for Assistance of WB
OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. As it was informed in the press service of the Government, such a request was made by the Prime Minister during the meeting in USA with the World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick. Vladimir Filat noted that named compensations will be received by socially vulnerable populations.
The premier thanked the WB for its continued assistance to Moldova, reporting on the results achieved in the economy and reducing poverty through the World Bank projects in Moldova.
The Moldovan Prime Minister presented the priorities of the Government in 2010, noting that ensuring good governance, de-monopolization and liberalization of the economy are the first actions of the executive body. Robert B. Zoellick said that the World Bank will continue supporting the development of Moldova through the provided assistance, noting that the World Bank will support the Government's efforts to continue reforming the public administration. During the meeting the parties also discussed areas that would require WB assistance, in particular, informational technologies and communications.
The Moldovan side also requested to include Moldova in the Transformation governance initiative and asked for assistance in organizing the Working Advisory Group. This event will be held in March 2010 in Brussels.
