OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. Companies Google, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, Oracle, Gemalto and Philips Medical expressed interest in information and communication technologies sector (ICTs) of Moldova. As it was informed in the press service of the government, this was announced by the companies’ representatives during the meeting with delegation of the Moldovan Government, headed by the Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, which is on a visit to USA.

In his turn, the Moldovan Prime Minister noted that ICT sector in Moldova is only in the beginning of its way but has great prospects. "The Government of Moldova initiated a comprehensive process of reforms in all areas, including ICT.

Our goal is to develop the national economy and to create necessary conditions for attracting foreign investments ", - said Vlad Filat. In this regard the premier highly appreciated Singapore's readiness to provide assistance to Moldova in this field. In his turn, the Vice Premier, the Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar told on the development of ICT in Moldova, noting that the strategy to be adopted soon by the Government has been developed in this area.

"ICT has great prospects. Although at present this area is not very developed yet, it takes 10% of GDP. We want to develop this area so that all citizens of Moldova will benefit from high quality services", - added Valeriu Lazar.
