OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2010. OAO Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has successfully completed the control assembly of the reactor and the supporting ring being built for 4-th unit of Kalinin nuclear power plant (NPP).

Holding control assembly was carried out in co-operation of OAO OMZ and AEM-Tekhnologii, the engineering company, part of OAO Atomenergomash.

This process operation on the factory is a special test rig and is held with a view to joining the two most important elements of power plant equipment and determination of equipment specifications.

Support ring, with inner diameter of more than 4.5 meters, installed exactly horizontal and spanned by the axes. It is strictly a vertical reactor vessel weighing over 300 tons, with diameter of 4.45 meters and height of 11 meters. All links, through which the body is attached to the ring, must be reconciled with an accuracy of tenths of a millimeter.

Holding control assembly is an important event in the development of Russia's nuclear engineering. Restoration of effective cooperation between the manufacturers of equipment for nuclear power plant and joint testing ensures high quality equipment and its proper operation throughout the life cycle of nuclear power plant.

After the operation support ring is delivered to mounting on a station being built. The body of the reactor will be shipped to the station before the end of this month.
