OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2010. S7, the largest Russian domestic air carrier by the number of passengers, and Iberia, the biggest Spanish airline and the leading carrier between Europe and Latin America, have entered into a code-share agreement that covers joint flights from Moscow (Domodedovo airport) to Madrid, the capital of Spain, reported the press-centre of S7.

Code-sharing offers better opportunities to passengers of both airlines. Starting January 15, 2010, S7 and Iberia are to make 12 Moscow-Madrid flights per week with modern Airbus A319 aircraft. Two of these flights a week will be operated by S7, and ten by Iberia. All will carry the codes of both airlines.

At Madrid, both companies will use the new Terminal 4, which simplifies and expedites S7 transfer passengers’ connections to Iberia flights for further travel.

S7 offers special fares, S7 Planet, for passengers connecting to partner airlines flights. For passengers’ convenience, a single ticket is issued for the whole itinerary to their destination. Agreements between S7 and partner airlines ensure lower cost of S7 Planet fares compared to the accrued cost of separate tickets for the same given itinerary.

“Iberia is a member of oneworld international airline alliance. S7 is to become a full member of the alliance this year, and then it will be able to offer its passengers a global flight network, a complete set of advanced services, beneficial fares and other options of oneworld”, said Vadim Besperstov, the Chief Commercial Officer of S7.

“We in Iberia are happy to tighten our links with S7, our future partner in oneworld. We believe this new relationship will increase greatly our presence and possibilities in the Russian market, one of the most important for Iberia’s network and probably the one with more growth potential”, said Elvira Herrero, Senor VP International Relations & Alliances of Iberia.

The minimum price of an S7 return flight from Moscow to Madrid is to be 240 Euros, fees exclusive.S7 has developed special transfer fares from regions of Russia and CIS countries to Madrid with a convenient connection in Moscow. For example, a flight from Saint-Petersburg to Madrid is to be 220 Euros, fees exclusive. A return flight to Madrid from Kazan and Krasnoyarsk is available for 360 Euros; a return flight from Kiev to Madrid is available for 330 USD. The prices are listed on a fees exclusive basis.

This is the second code-sharing agreement concluded by S7 with oneworld member airlines, since its election on board in May 2009 as an oneworld member designate. S7 has been code-sharing with oneworld member Royal Jordanian since September, 2009.
