OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2010. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), country’s single gas operator since summer, is ongoing fighting gas losses.

The Company informs that in November and December its sub-company Azeriqaz’s Baku Gas Operations Department conducted examination of gas meters installed for consumers referred as individuals. As a result, it was revealed 1,837 non-operating meters. Of them, 1,772 meters were replaced by district gas services. Another 1,168 meters were checked, conclusions on 225 ones were made and 11 consumers replaced meters at their own expense. In addition, the Department sealed 6,764 meters, including 296 meters in Yasamal, 300 in Nasimi, 518 in Sabail, 1,352 in Binagadi, 152 in Nizami, 47 in Narimanov, 2,265 in Sabunchi, 75 in Garadagh, 1,145 in Azizbeyov, 94 in Khatayi and 434 in Surakhani districts of Baku.
