Freight One Announces 2009 Results
OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2010. Freight One hauled 231.8 million tons of freight in 2009, an increase of 90% over 2008. The growth was primarily due to an increase in the company’s hauling capabilities. In addition, in 2009 the company successfully applied a traffic optimization scheme aimed at reducing empty runs and the idle time of cars. By expanding its branch network, Freight One has significantly increased its customer base in the regions, which also affected the company’s 2009 results.
From January-December of 2009, the company hauled 76.5 million tons of coal (+129.0%), 62.1 million tons of oil freight (+58.8%), 22.5 million tons of ore (+212.5%), 14.8 million tons of building materials (+ 135.0%), 12.2 million tons of cement (-15.9%), 10.8 million tons of ferrous metals (+111.8%), 5.0 million tons of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+85.0%) and 1.2 million tons of ferrous metals (+140.0%).
The company accounted for 18.8% of the total traffic on the Russian Railways network in 2009, an increase of 10.4 percentage points compared with the same period of 2008.
