OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2010. President Aliyev stated that in 2009 Azerbaijan’s gross domestic product increased by 9.3%.

“I consider this is a historical achievement. It testifies once more that thought policy and right moves are in the basis of all our successes,” Aliyev said.

He also pointed out that Azerbaijan as part of world economy managed to find a way out of crisis situation with minimum loses and following 2009 it was in ranks of most dynamically developing countries of the world.

“We managed to protect our economic interests and did not allow worsening of welfare of citizens. On the contrary, in 2009 social situation of the Azerbaijani population improved. Our economy growth by 9.3% is a result of work done in 2009 and previous few years. In 2009 industrial production increased by 8.6%. It testifies that our industrial sector has grown as well. Policy of industrialization followed actively in Azerbaijan over the last few years brings its fruits. Agriculture rose by 3.5%. This is also a very important indicator. While oil factor presents in development and growth of industrial sector, the development of agriculture testifies exclusively that intense rise of non-oil sector of Azerbaijan, including farm industry, that is of great significance for solution of economic and social maters is a result of work we conduct,” the President said.
