OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2010. OAO TATNEFT has been ranked No.1 among the oil companies of Russia in the rating of social and environmental responsibility in a regular reference list made by the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Independent Environmental Rating Agency (NERA) "Ratings of business and regions of Russia: Environmental responsibility and energy efficiency" based on the evaluation of environmental performance of the largest Russian companies, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

Ranking of one hundred largest Russian companies (Top 100) in the NERA lists has been made in accordance with the environmental costs, i.e. impact on the environment that accompanied the receipt of each one million rubles revenues gained, as well as the dynamics of specific environmental impacts during the period of nine years (starting the year 2000).

The high position in the rating is also proved by the environmental "transparency", which means completeness of the Company's environmental reporting disclosure.

Furthermore, the list of companies whose shares are included in the portfolio of NERAX-Eco for 2010 stock index has been updated based on the results of the annual assessment of the environmental efficiency of the business. Of the total number of companies evaluated by the NERA Autonomous Non-Profit Organization and quoted on the stock market, 16 best ones by eco-efficiency indicators and 8 best ones by the reduction of environmental impacts during the period after 2000 have been selected. TATNEFT has been included in the list on the basis of these criteria.

The high ratings once again prove the consistent course of responsible environmental policy of TATNEFT and the high efficiency of environmental activities implemented by the Company in the region of its activities.
