OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2010. In Moscow Svyazinvest and the Russian Academy of Sciences signed an order/resolution on the formation and implementation of the Coordination Council which is to create and implement coordinated policy for the use of information and communication technology (ICT).

The main tasks of the Coordination Council will be to form a coordinated policy for the Group’s companies and the Russian Academy of Sciences for the use of information and communication technology, an analysis of the level of development and a forecast of the use of ICT, formation of joint initiatives with respect to the development and use of ICT. The council will also deal with coordinating concepts and feasibility studies related to ICT measures and projects and will help coordinate the activities of Svyazinvest and the Russian Academy of Sciences in organizing highly productive and distributed computations, data processing and GRID technologies.  Another task assigned to the council is to coordinate the activities of Svyazinvest and the Russian Academy of Sciences with respect to the development of scientific networks and the formation of national information resources.

Deputy director general of Svyazinvest Vladimir Bondarik and academician/member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences were appointed as the co-chairmen of the council.  Other members of the council include representatives of Svyazinvest and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
