Sakhalin Energy Informs on Production Records in 2009
OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2010. In 2009 Sakhalin Energy exceeded planned targets for oil cargoes by more than 11% and for LNG deliveries – over 47%, reported the press-centre of Sakhalin Energy.
By the end of 2009, the Company delivered 59 oil cargoes and 81 LNG cargoes, as compared to the initial targets set of 53 and 55 cargoes respectively. Delivery of the 59th oil cargo to Zaliv Aniva oil tanker bound for Japan was finished on December 29th, and the 81th LNG cargo was delivered to our customers in South Korea by K Jasmin LNG carrier.
Sakhalin Energy is operating two fields, where the three Company’s offshore platforms are installed. Piltun area development, which is home to Piltun-Astokhskoye-B (PA-B) platform, required very complex directed drilling techniques as well as know-how methods and approaches.
By the end of 2009, only a year since production was launched on PA-B, the platform produced 10 mln barrels (1 mln 400 000 tonnes) of oil. By setting its sixth well into production the platform’s production capacity reached nearly 60 000 barrels of oil per day, making it the second best Piltun well drilled to date.
These are the record results for the first year of Sakhalin-2 Project delivery in the oil and gas industry.
