OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2010. A grand opening of a new secondary comprehensive school No.1 was held on the 12th of January, in which Aleksey Gordeev, Governor of the Voronezh region, and Sergey Marchenkov, Project Manager of construction of a new cement plant in Podgorensky area of the Voronezh region and representative of ZAO “EUROCEMENT group”, participated.

 “For the Holding, as a socially responsible company, educational level is important in the region and particularly in the village”, said Managing Director of JSC “EUROCEMENT engineering” Sergey Marchenkov. “While implementing this project, we set ourselves the task to create conditions for the rising generation’s studies of high quality. I’m sure that opening of the new modern school will create favourable conditions for increasing educational level of young people and fulfilling their creative potential”, pointed out Sergey Marchenkov.

“The today’s event is a striking example of public private partnership, where both parties (business and government), in fact rather than in words, found an opportunity to promptly fulfill the task that is so important to the region”, stated Governor of the Voronezh region Aleksey Gordeev. “It means that right tomorrow hundreds of young people from the region and Podgorensky village will start obtaining education of high quality in splendid environment”, believes Aleksey Gordeev. Owing to implementation of the joint project, over a thousand schoolchildren from the two oldest schools will begin their studies in the second half-year in new classrooms equipped with the state-of-the-art language laboratory, computer classroom and two gyms.

Agreement on participation of JSC “EUROCEMENT group” in construction of secondary comprehensive school No.1 was reached between the Holding’s management and the region authorities in 2009. At that time, in the course of the meeting of the Chairman of Board of Directors of JSC “EUROCEMENT group” Filaret Galchev with Governor of the Voronezh region Aleksey Gordeev, the total value of “EUROCEMENT group” participation in the said project was determined. The Holding’s investments in the construction and facilities for the new school amounted to over 9 million rubles.

At present, the policy of corporate social responsibility of JSC “EUROCEMNT group” is built up with regard to the two basic principles: area of targeted support as the most effective method of rendering charitable aid and focusing not on public response but on society’s actual need in implementation of these or those programs.
