Head of Kolenergo Gets State Award of Finland
OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2010. Vitaliy Nikolayevich Meshkov, who was the Head of Kolenergo from 1985 till 2000, is 77. He continues working under his book on the history of the electric energy of the Polar region.
The honorary citizen of the Murmansk region, Vitaliy Meshkov, former General Director of JSC “Kolenergo” got the state award of Finland. In Consulate General of Finland in St Petersburg he got the Knight’s Cross of the 1st class of the order of Lion of Finland.
The order was given by Olli Perheentul, Consul General in St Petersburg. According to him the decision on the remuneration on the awarding was approved by the President of the Republic of Finland for the meritorious development of the cooperation between the European partners.
Vitaliy Meshkov was congratulated with the award by Alexander Kukhmay, General Director of IDGC of North-West, and Boris Vainzicher, General Director of JSC “TGC-1”.
Managing Director of the Finnish electric grid company JSC Energy of Pentti Kellokumpu and Knight of White Rose of Finland was also present at the awarding ceremony.
Today, Vitaliy Nikolayevich Meshkov is 77 years. He worked for the power system of the Kola Peninsula for 43 years, now he is working at the book on history of the polar region.
Note: The Order of Lion of Finland is one of the highest state awards of Finland. He is one of the youngest three official knight orders and was established on September 11, 1942. The order is given to civil and military persons. It shall be mentioned that in December, 2009 the Great Cross of the Knights’ Order of Lion of Finland was given to Valentina Matvienko, the Governor of St. Petersburg.
