OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2010. Rovnag Abdulayev, the president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), says that Azerbaijan supplies gas to Derbent region because of a blast on Kazimagomed-Mozdok gas pipeline.

“Signing of the contract with us helped Russia to the certain extent to provide gas for this region in period of force majeure situation,” he said.

Because of the pipeline explosion more than 170,000 people were deprived of gas. Azerbaijan supplies gas to Russia in compliance with the relevant contract with Gazprom.
