Yuzhny Port of Ukraine to Build 1.2 mln Tons Capacity Cargo Complex
OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2010. The state-run "Commercial Sea Port "Yuzhny" (Southern) of Odessa region, in Ukraine has announced a bidding for contract to build a cargo transshipment complex for open storage on the berth N10, “Ukrrudprom" reports citing the port’s announcement published in the “Official journal of public procurement”.
Previously, the Port "Southern" said it would build the first cargo complex at the berth N10 until 2012. The capacity of the terminal at the first stage will be 1.2 million tons handled annually with the possibility of increasing the capacity of the complex berth to 3.8 million tons per year through the development of the rear areas.
The length of the quay is said to be 285 meters. The contractor will build new warehouse site for the simultaneous storage of 170 thousand tons of cargo. The contract cost of 1.2 million tons capacity complex will amount to 616.919 million hryvna (about \\$77.1 million). The port is going to cover project costs through its own funds.
Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny was founded in 1978. It is located on the bank Adzhalyksky estuary. The port has a capacity to handle up to 15 million tons of cargoes a year. Specializes in bulk, liquid bulk, chemical, coal and ore and packaged unit loads. Port throughput in 2008 reached 21 million 698 thousand tons.
