RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2010. Over the week of December 28 – December 31, 2009, the RTS Index went down by 0.39% to reach 1,444.61 points (1,450.25 points as of December 25, 2009). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the declining prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (minus 2.21 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (minus 1.33 points) and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (minus 1.04 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a slight change closing at 1,427.28 points (1,427.32 points as of December 25, 2009). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index losing 1.59%. A significant decrease was also shown by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index shedding 1.17%. The largest growth was seen in the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index climbing 0.59%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 1.05% against the ruble to reach 30.24 rubles per US dollar (29.93 rubles as of December 25, 2009).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week December 28 – December 31, 2009 equaled USD7.77 billion (231.34 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD435.99 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD221.37 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD117.73 million and privileged shares of Sberbank (SBERP) with a turnover of USD28.24 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 47.74%, 25.39% and 6.09% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of Tattelecom (TTLK) that went up by 31.58% to USD0.005 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC N. W. Telecom (SPTL) – by 11.98% to USD0.76 and ordinary shares of JSC "Aeroflot" (AFLT) – by 8.92% to reach USD1.71.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "TGC-9" (TGKI) that fell in price by 9.09% to reach USD0.0001 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) – by 8.69% to USD4.109 and ordinary shares of JSC "СhTRP" (CHEP) – by 7.56% to USD2.08.
