OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2010. The joint Sampo & Nordea ATM network comprises 100 ATMs. The 5 new ATMs which were opened in December are located in Narva and Kohtla-Jarve (in East Estonia) and in Tallinn, reported the press-centre of Sampo Pank.

”Despite the cooling of the economy we continued expanding our joint ATM network last year.
By now our ATMs have been set up in all major Estonian towns and centres,“ admitted Olavi Pakkonen, head of retail banking of Nordea Bank.

”The fact that the volume of card transactions performed in ATMs has increased by 25% yearly shows that customers have found their way to our ATMs. Our target for 2010 is to expand the joint ATM network also to those Estonian towns where there are no Sampo & Nordea ATMs yet,“ explains Ainar Nurk, head of cards of Sampo Pank.

The experience of recent years shows that the joint Sampo & Nordea ATM network is the fastest growing ATM network in Estonia. The ATMs of Nordea and Sampo are provided with anti-skimming devices which ensure security. As a result, not a single case of skimming of card data in our ATMs has been reported within recent 18 months.

The joint Sampo & Nordea ATM network which was started in 2006 comprises 385 ATMs in the Baltics, whereof 100 are located in Estonia, 100 in Latvia and 185 in Lithuania. The ATM network is managed by the operating company First Data International.
