OREANDA-NEWS. January 06, 2010. Tendency when price for BTC FOB Ceyhan, main export grade of Azeri oil, exceeded value of oil standard grade Brent continued in December, after it resumed  in May and suppressed  in April of the year.

In December, 2009, total level of world prices dropped by USD 2.32-2.44/ per barrel.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported that in December, the price per barrel of BTC FOB Ceyhan oil exceeded price per barrel of Brent oil by USD 0.92 against USD 0.86 in November, USD 0.77 in September, (data for October was not announced), USD 0.66 in August, USD 0.5 in July, USD 0,22 in June, USD 0.93 in May, USD 0.72 in March, USD 0.93 in February, USD 1.83 in January of 2009, USD 1.01 in December 2008, and only this April it turned out by USD 0.09 per barrel less than the price of North Sea oil grade.

The record difference (USD 1.97) was registered in July 2008 and April of last year it was USD 0.71 per barrel.

“In December, cost of a barrel of BTC FOB Ceyhan oil totaled USD 75.2 against USD 73.88 per barrel of Russian oil mixture Urals (REBCO) and USD 74.28 per barrel of Brent branded oil,” SOCAR source said.

In December, price per barrel of BTC FOB Ceyhan oil fell by USD 2.32, Urals – by USD 2.44, Brent – by USD 2.38 versus growth by USD 9.36, USD 9.23, USD 9.27 respectively in November, reduction by USD 5.33, USD 5.16 and by USD 5.44 respectively in September, rise by USD 8.38, USD 74, USD 8.22 respectively in August, decline of USD 2.66, USD 3.53 and USD 3.94 in July, rise of USD 10.36, USD 11.31, USD 11.07 in June, rise of USD 8.16, USD 7.12 and USD 7.14 in May, rise of USD 4.06, USD 3.06, and USD 3.24 in January of 2009 and fall by USD 12.17, USD 11.76 and USD 12.16 in December 2008.

In 2008, the record fall in oil prices per month was registered in October (by USD 26.32, USD 27.1, and USD 26.26 per barrel respectively) and the record growth was registered in May (USD 14.06, USD 13.06 and USD 13.76 per barrel respectively).

Simultaneously in December SOCAR registered sharp decrease of oil exported via Baku-Novorossiysk northern route.

“In December, 2009, 139,442 tons of Azeri oil were exported via the northern route versus 238,665 tons in November, 246,685 tons in October, 139,871 tons in September 239,741 tons in August, 247,042 tons in July, 170,548 tons in June, 224,252 tons in May, 223,822 tons in April, 224,263 tons in March, 218,453 in February and 167,186 tons of in January, 2009. Over 2009,  2.479 million tons of oil were shipped,” it was informed.

Thus, indicator for 2009, already makes 207.26% of export via this route for entire 2008 (1.196 million tons).

In 2008, the highest oil export a month via Baku Novorossiysk was registered in April (159,384 tons) and the least export in December (82,506 tons).
