RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. January 5, 2010. Over the week of December 21 – December 25, 2009, the RTS Index went up by 2.84% to reach 1,450.25 points (1,410.22 points as of December 18, 2009). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 8.80 points) followed by ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (plus 8.50 points) and ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 7.30 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase closing at 1,427.32 points (2.26% up against 1,395.81 points as of December 18, 2009). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the telecom sector, with the RTS Telecom Index gaining 6.90%. A significant increase was also shown by the oil & gas and consumer & retail sectors, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index and RTS Consumer & Retail Index adding 2.85% and 2.16% respectively. The largest decline was seen in the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index losing 2.44%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.68% against the ruble to reach 29.93 rubles per US dollar (30.44 rubles as of December 18, 2009).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week December 21 – December 25, 2009 equaled USD10.40 billion (316.76 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,480.46 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD719.58 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD313.07 million and privileged shares of Sberbank (SBERP) with a turnover of USD159.89 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 47.59%, 20.71% and 10.57% respectively.

The week's top gainers were privileged shares of OJSC N. W. Telecom (SPTLP) that went up by 25.45% to USD0.5131 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC N. W. Telecom (SPTL) – by 23.39% to USD0.67867 and privileged shares of OJSC "VolgaTelecom" (NNSIP) – by 22.91% to reach USD2.2.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of Sistema JSFC (AFKS) that fell in price by 7.51% to reach USD0.81 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "INTER RAO UES" (IRAO) – by 7.41% to USD0.0015 and privileged shares of Bashneft (BANEP) – by 5.36% to USD13.25.
