OREANDA-NEWS. December 31, 2009. Transaero, Russia’s second-largest airline achieved rapif growth rates for key indicators in November 2009.

In November 2009:

    Revenue passenger-kilometers (RPK) grew to 1.67 billion, 23.6% more than in November 2008

    Passenger volume constituted 381,000 passengers, 26.9% more than in November 2008

    Revenue ton-kilometers (RTK) grew to 170 million, 26.1% more than in November 2008

    3,327 tons of mail and cargo delivered, 42.6% more than in November 2008

 “Transaero’s consistent strategy of stable development, effective market-oriented management, our professional team and our efficient, reliable fleet allows us to successfully navigate the consequences of turbulent economic conditions,” remarked Transaero Airlines General Director Olga Pleshakova, speaking of November results.  “In 2009 we managed to improve operating and financial figures beyond the 2008 record. Our company has once again proven that it’s capable of stable growth even in difficult conditions and lays the foundation of further growth”.  

According to January – November results 2009:

    Revenue passenger-kilometers (RPK) totaling 17.03 billion, 4.4% more than for the same period last year

    Passenger volume constituting 4.65 million passengers, 1.4% more than for the period January – November 2008

    Revenue ton-kilometers (RTK) totaling 1.68 billion, 6.2% more than for the period January – November 2008

    26,121 tons of mail and cargo delivered, 17.6% more than for the period January – November 2008

RPK on Transaero’s domestic routes for the 11 month period has achieved a 70.7% increase over the same period for 2008 and passenger volume on domestic routes has reached a 70.4% increase over the same period in 2008. The number of Transaero’s transit passengers grew 35.5% for the first eleven months of 2009. Operating figures from May of 2009 exceed results for the same period in 2008. Transaero is actively developing its domestic route network by launching routes to new destinations, increasing flight frequency on existing routes and operating higher capacity aircraft. Since the beginning of 2009 Transaero has launched 11 new domestic routes from Moscow to Blagoveshensk, Irkutsk, Kazan, Kemerovo, Magadan, Magnitogorsk, Noviy Urengoi, Omsk, Samara, Ufa and Krasnodar. In December 2009 the airline will inaugurate regular flights to Ulan-Ude.
