OREANDA-NEWS. December 31, 2009. Ilim Group locations within Business Unit Ilim East (the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk Branches) have made the necessary efforts to ensure fire safety during the winter season.

In the Bratsk Branch of Ilim Group preparation for the winter fire season had three main areas of focus: inspection of the water supply systems and external fire extinguishing equipment; preparation of the sites, standpipes, and fire ladders; testing of the connections and operation of the electrical heating devices.

All mobile facilities, including trailers located on the mill site, were also examined for compliance with fire safety requirements. The inspection included such parameters as closeness of the trailer to buildings and constructions, fire hydrants availability, etc.

Branch employees have also listened to a safety briefing concerning correct use of the electrical appliances.

The Ust-Ilimsk Branch paid special attention to the electric wiring which is going to receive a greater load during the winter season, as well as to rules for using the electric heaters. The mill also held a fire drill to make sure that all employees remember which actions should be taken in case of a real fire.
