OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2009. OJSC “MegaFon”, the first pan-Russian mobile operator, has become General Partner of Sochi 2014 XI Winter  Paralympic Games (till the end of 2014), General Partner  of the Russian Paralympics Committee (till the end of 2016), and also General Partner  of the Paralympics Russian Teams (2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 teams).

The partnership agreement was signed on the International Paralympics Day in Moscow at the Red Square on December 12, 2009 that was held for the first time in the history of Russia by Sochi-2014 Organizational Committee with MegaFon’s support.

Sergey Soldatenkov, MegaFon’s CEO, said, “I am very happy that MegaFon has this possibility to support Paralympic Games, it is a great honor for us. Sport develops the most valuable character features – striving for victory, diligence and belief in the result. I suppose that these features are crucial for paralympic athletes. Paralympic Games are international sporting competitions for disabled people. The games are traditionally held after the Olympic Games, and since 1992 — at the same venues. In 2001, this practice was formalized by the agreement between IOC and International Paralympics Committee (IPC). In 2014, XI Paralympic Winter Games will be held in the Russian city of Sochi.
