RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2009. Over the week of December 14 – December 18, 2009, the RTS Index went up by 3.21% to reach 1,410.22 points (1,366.36 points as of December 11, 2009). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 14.06 points) followed by ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 13.49 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (plus 6.33 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase closing at 1,395.81 points (1.79% up against 1,371.30 points as of December 11, 2009). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the telecom sector, with the RTS Telecom Index gaining 8.22%. A significant increase was also shown by the oil & gas and finance sector, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index and RTS Finances Index adding 3.89% and 4.33% respectively. The largest decline was seen in the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index losing 1.19%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.61% against the ruble to reach 30.44 rubles per US dollar (30.63 rubles as of December 11, 2009).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week December 14 – December 18, 2009 equaled USD11.37 billion (343.31 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,179.43 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,054.06 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD504.11 million and privileged shares of Sberbank (SBERP) with a turnover of USD203.77 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 46.84%, 22.40% и 9.06% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC Sibirtelekom (ENCO) that went up by 54.55% to USD0.051 followed by privileged shares of "UTK" PJSC (KUBNP) – by 45.83% to USD0.0875 and ordinary shares of "UTK" PJSC (KUBN) – by 35.87% to reach USD0.125.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of "Krasnyj Octyabr Co." (KROT) that fell in price by 8.09% to reach USD12.5 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "Magnit" (MGNT) – by 7.53% to USD67.5 and ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) – by 4.26% to USD4.5.
