OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2009. On the initiative of Public Company ORLEN Lietuva, Mazeikiai municipal authorities, various institutions and organizations as well as local businessmen came together for the charity campaign ‘Fill the Souls with Warmth’.

On 23 December 2009, in Mazeikiai, well-known local people, representatives of Lithuanian culture and show business served steaming porridge to citizens of the town.

The purpose of the campaign is to promote community-based solidarity, help the citizens in need and those unable to take care of themselves, to encourage communication among people during Christmas – the period of kindness and joy.

Porridge (which was cooked at Mazeikiai schools, Old People and Children Foster Home) was taken to lonely and diseased people, those who could not attend the festive event themselves, by employees of the district municipality and Red Cross Society.

Public Company ORLEN Lietuva, the initiator of the campaign ‘Fill the Souls with Warmth’, together with Mazeikiai Municipality, created a ‘calculator’ of good works and made a list of such works by district institutions and organizations. The first on the list is the support of Public Company ORLEN Lietuva in opening the charity canteen. Starting from Christmas Eve and all through the next year, people in need will be able to have meals free of charge here.

The Company distributed Christmas candies to hundreds of children in need, and the Company employees fulfilled the dreams of 40 children from families at social risk – bought gifts which will be presented to the children during the celebration on the 28th of December.

Elderly citizens of the district were paid especial attention during the Christmas period – on the initiative of Public Company ORLEN Lietuva, they will be provided with the possibility to warm themselves up with a cup of free-of-charge tea or coffee at eleven cafes of the district.
