OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2009. SPD became the first company in Russian fuel-and-power sector that received a Fire Safety Declaration based on the independent estimate of fire risks. This document is a must-have according to the federal law of RF “Technical regulation on fire safety requirements” that was enacted in July 2008. This document for the first time lifts the fire safety requirements up to the level of a federal law. Each and every Russian company must obtain such a declaration before May 1, 2010.

SPD is the first company that did all the necessary research and preparations. The Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCHS) that undertook this research for SPD analyzed and estimated fire risks existing on the production facilities of the Salym group of oilfields. During the research, based on the project documentation of these facilities, 15,000 possible emergency situations were examined.

Independent estimate of fire risks confirms that SPD has created a fire safety system for the Salym fields that doesn’t exceed the levels of potential risks set by the Russian legislation. It means that SPD correctly estimates levels of fire hazards that might involve people & the Company’s facilities at the Salym project. SPD endeavours to minimize constantly all hazards of any kind.

Health and lives of SPD employees and its contractors working at Salym fields is the First Priority for SPD. The SPD HSSE team facilitated the process of declaration, actively providing the necessary assistance to the specialists of MCHS Academy. As a consequence, it was possible to promptly get the Fire Safety Declaration due to our good relationship with the Reviewing Department of MCHS, the timely monitoring and accurate analysis of Russian legal documents and the law making processes, related to HSSE and fire safety in particular. So thank you and well done to all those involved.
